Everywhere I look, there are year-in-reviews challenging my pop culture IQ and my memories. Because there is just no way that Ellen selfie (I despise that word) happened 11 months ago. I'd like to think I learned a few things along the way. And hopefully forgot a few bad habits, too.
The most exciting part of this year is that it has set up 2015 to be even better. New adventures, old friends, growing career, and trying new things.
2013 was all about (self) discovery. 2014 was focused on exploration.
2015 will be the year I try new things. I will say yes even though I'm scared, or don't know all the intricate details. It will be the year I step (or am thrust violently) outside my comfort zone, trust someone else knows better, and just go.
and away we go

So many lists
One week to go and I have created more lists about packing than I have actually packed. The irony? Boss-lady will be on the local news tomorrow morning enlightening the masses with packing tips that only a seasoned traveler would know. I'll be watching from off-camera, having a not-at-sublte panic attack I'm sure. (At least I haven't had any no-pants nightmares. However, airport and client mid-REM disasters, aplenty.)
This week will be a mix of anxiety, excitement, and the gratification that comes from ticking things off the list(s).
Until I get to the list for the Nephew's first ever Cub Scout camping trip, that is.
Which side of the tent goes up?

T minus Ireland in 25 days.
And because I'm denial about it already being 3 October, I actually had to count those days out.
Let the packing (and panicking) commence!

Thank God for the FedEx Lady
I have cultivated a personal relationship with my FedEx delivery lady. She's beyond beautiful and super friendly and I get to see her today!
That being said, I should probably aspire to read higher-brow material. But while I find something more appropriate for my age, I will be spending the next week or so reading these two gems!!

Jeneration X; One Reluctant Adult's Attempt to Unarrest Her Arrested Development; Or, Why It's Never Too Late for Her Dumb Ass to Learn Why Froot Loops Are Not for Dinner (which can be found here)
"Nothing less than the mortal world is at stake when the Kane family fulfills its destiny in this thrilling conclusion to the Kane Chronicles." (and can be found here)
I dont' even think this counts as YA since it's written for 5th and 6th grade readers. But sometimes you just need an innocent foray into the world, right?
So there you have it. After the dreaded Finals Week has been put behind me, I will laugh my ass off at everything Jen has to say and feverishly read for the Kane children's lives.
You should join me.

Dear Seattle,
I'm severely low in the "cold, Pacific Northwest winter coat" department. So, be nice to me this week. I really want to fall in love with you. But I don't think I can fully do that if I can't see for my chattering teeth.
With that being said, I'll be seeing you tomorrow. Get excited.

Make it a triple, please
Two nights ago I dreamed I was surrounded by pods of mean girls in a high school-like nightmare.
Last night I dreamed I didn't come home from my visit in Seattle. I just stayed and drank coffee and took the ferry.
Maybe they have nothing at all to do with the fact that today is my last day at SiJCP. Or that I move to nowhere-ville Arkansas in January.
But you don't believe that. And neither do I. So here is to adventure. And flannel-coated caffeine.

This time last year. . .
I was heading to Lafayette to begin my journey on the path of the yogi(ni). I'd like to think I've grown in more ways than just in my practice. It's been a good year and I am thankful for it.

Must find ruby slippers
Because I am headed to Emerald City for holiday. "Oh baby I hear the blues a'callin'; tossed salads and scrambled eggs."
(Wait, does anyone know what that *actually* means?)

back on the mat
This is the little poem on the first page of week 2. I love it just as much now as I did the first time I read it. (yes, this is the same course I went through in the fall. I am going back through it again.)
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.
Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
